Topics

The Topics field was loaded for documents posted prior to November 1, 2011. Order #27 Remand does not require that this field be populated for documents posted on or after November 1, 2011, therefore R.J. Reynolds no longer populates the non-required Topics field for documents loaded to the website on or after November 1, 2011.

This field provides a brief, generalized description of the subject matter or type of documents contained in the various topical categories. The categories allow the user to identify (and search within) certain topics related to various smoking and health litigation claims. The topical categories described below are, in many instances, based upon document requests propounded upon R.J. Reynolds by plaintiffs in the smoking and health litigation. Neither the topical categories nor the fact that documents are linked to those categories should be considered to be an admission by R.J. Reynolds. To the contrary, the topical categories are provided to assist the user in finding documents that have been produced to plaintiffs in other litigation. R.J. Reynolds does not (and cannot) warrant that every document on this website that is potentially related to a topic will be identified in a search of that topic. Neither can R.J. Reynolds warrant that all documents located in topical searches constitute or contain a substantial discussion of the topic. The list of topics set forth below represents a good faith, reasonable effort to identify a comprehensive set of topical categories and to link each document on this website to every category to which the document relates. Many documents are categorized to more than one topic.
