A Federal Court has ordered R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, Philip Morris USA, Altria, and Lorillard to make these statements:

R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company is making the information on this website available to the public to underscore the company's commitment to the principles set forth in the settlement of claims brought by various States Attorneys General against the tobacco industry. The Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) is part of an effort toward curbing underage smoking throughout the country. It implements proposals long sought by parents, policy makers and the public health community. Although this settlement alone may not eradicate the youth smoking problem, it offers common sense solutions as progressive alternatives to continued litigation, delay and stalemate.

Under the terms of the Master Settlement Agreement, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company agreed to maintain its existing document website through June 30, 2010 and make certain additions and enhancements to the website to assist people in reviewing and retrieving non-privileged, non-competitively sensitive documents that R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company had produced during pre-trial discovery in a number of civil smoking and health cases. In addition, as successor to the U.S. tobacco business of Brown & Williamson, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company also made the Brown & Williamson and American documents available in accordance with the Master Settlement Agreement.

R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company continues to maintain this website pursuant to the Final Judgment and Remedial Order (“Order #1015”), which went into effect on July 1, 2010, as modified by Orders #1021 and #27 Remand in United States v. Philip Morris USA, Inc., et al., No. 99-CV-2496 (GK). R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company will continue to maintain this website until September 1, 2021.
